How long your Merry's last depends on how you wear and care for them. Like all quality footwear, they require regular care, similar to leather boots, to keep them looking great and performing well for years to come.
Boots and Clogs
Keep your boots stored in a dry place and away from direct sunlight. We recommend keeping them indoors as prolonged exposure to sunlight can dry out the rubber or fade the colours.
Using silicone-based rubber treatments like those in the Merry People Care Kit will protect them and keep the natural rubber moisturised, helping avoid cracks and keeping them merrier for longer!
Cleaning regularly will also help prolong their life. We recommend giving them a hose down after muddy adventures to remove any excess dirt, as it can dry out the rubber or fade the rubber colour over time. You can use a mild detergent (dishwashing liquid works well) to remove any marks on the rubber or neoprene, and melamine sponges (Magic Erasers) work wonders for stubborn stains.

Can I put them in the washing machine?
We don’t recommend putting your Merrys in the washing machine, for the sake of both your shoes and the machine! Since they’re 100% waterproof, any water trapped inside won't easily dry out and can cause mould, so avoid fully submerging them.
Lochie Sandals
Just like our boots, our sandals also need some TLC! To keep your Lochie Sandals looking and feeling their best, here are a few care tips to keep in mind:
- Be sure to hose down any dirt, sand, or saltwater
- Squeeze out any water from the neoprene lining
- Treat rubber straps and midsole with silicone (avoid applying silicone to the sole)
- Once completely dry, store out of direct sunlight
